As we begin the 2018 year, the team at AEGIS Financial thought of kicking off the New Year by bringing awareness to how prevalent Heart Disease is. As many of you may know, February is the month designated to honor those that have been affected by Heart Disease and educating individuals of how to prevent the diagnosis.

According to the American Heart Association, “Cardiovascular disease is listed as the underlying cause of death, accounts for nearly 801,000 deaths in the US. That’s about 1 of every 3 deaths in the US. In addition, cardiovascular disease claims more lives each year than all forms of cancer and Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease combined.” The risk factors of Heart Disease that are manageable are high blood pressure, smoking, high blood cholesterol, lack of regular activity, obesity or overweight and diabetes.  Some risk factors that can’t be controlled are age, gender, heredity, race and previous strokes/heart attacks.

At this moment, we can choose to make a lifestyle resolution to improve our health so that we or those that we love don’t become a statistic. To help educate those that we serve, we are opening our office on Monday, February 26th from 12:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. for the chance to learn from the Oshkosh YMCA Registered Dietitian, Kate Harrell and Certified Personal Trainer, Charlotte Stich. Together Kate and Charlotte will bless us with their knowledge of how to establish a healthy diet along with the variety of exercises to incorporate in our day to help us stay on track! The first 20 individuals to sign up for the event will receive a voucher for 1 FREE 30 Minute Session with either a Nationally Certified Trainer or Dietician at the Oshkosh YMCA. During the free session the Trainer or Dietician will review your health history, goals, and general information. They will also teach you how to reach your goals either via exercise or healthy nutritional advice. Just wait, there’s more! Prior to learning from Kate and Charlotte, we will be offering FREE blood pressure screenings and a healthy lunch to jump start your day!

Together as a team, we are making the conscious decision to live a healthier life in 2018 and for the years to come! From January 1st to March 31st each of the team members are tracking how long we exercise for on a daily basis. For every minute of exercise that our team members put forth from the beginning of January to the end of March, AEGIS Financial we will make a donation to the American Heart Association.

Help cheer on your AEGIS Financial family as we begin our lifestyle resolution!
